'Game of Thrones' Season 5 Cast Rumors: Series Fans Speculate Catelyn Stark’s Return?

Fans of HBO's hit show Game of Thrones have been throwing around theories for Season 5. In a trailer posted to YouTube on February 2, some rumors got the viewers rather excited, especially one about a character who has already died on the show, but could return.

After her untimely demise in the Red Wedding episode, Catelyn Stark, also known as Lady Stoneheart, was thought to never to return to the Games of Thrones cast. Those who read the books were disappointed with Stark's death as she played a pivotal role at the end of the "Song of Ice and Fire" novels written for George R.R. Martin.

However, some fans believe she will return in the new season.

Michelle Fairley, who played Catelyn Stark, was listed to the cast for Episode 10 of Season 5 on IMDb. Fans were very excited as the news spread throughout the Internet, starting with Reddit. However, the movie database site is notorious for inaccurate information as anyone can add to posts.

A representative for Fairley said, "There hasn't been any discussion about her returning to the show after season 3. As of now, this is completely incorrect."

According to HNGN, the showrunners of the series have repeatedly told fans that Lady Stoneheart will not return. Other cast members have refused to say much about the new season as well. Fans speculate that Catelyn's daughter, Sansa, could take on the responsibilities she had.

Sophie Turner, Sansa, told Access Hollywood in an interview, "This [season] definitely tested me quite a bit because it is a challenging season. [Sansa] has changed [in] that she approaches every situation differently, which was just kind of like different to switch into that mentality."

Season 5 of Game of Thrones airs via HBO on April 12.
