Game of Thrones Season 5 Release Date: Rumors Confirmed - Two New Seasons Ordered by HBO
The popular original drama "Game of Thrones" on HBO is one of the most popular show currently airing. Taking note of that popularity, the network has just renewed the show for not just a fifth season, but also a 6th season.
It is unclear if there will be more than sixth seasons, but if popularity keeps up, there's no reason to see an end for the popular series.
HBO President Michael Lombard recently released a statement about the two-season renewal of "Game of Thrones."
"'Game of Thrones' is a phenomenon like no other. [Executive producers] David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, along with their talented collaborators, continue to surpass themselves, and we look forward to more of their dazzling storytelling," the network president said.
It is unclear how many seasons of "Game of Thrones" there will be in total. During the season four premiere, George R.R. Martin, who penned the book series the show is based on, said there could be as many as 10 season of the show.
"It all depends on how long the main series runs. Do we run for seven years? Do we run for eight? Do we run for 10? The books get bigger and bigger," Martin said.
Catch "Game of Thrones" on HBO on Sundays at 9/8c.
