'Game of Thrones' Season 4 Release Date, Cast Update: Actor Ed Skrein Replaced As Daario; Brienne Enters a Relationship of “Begrudging Respect” with Jaime Lannister
There will be some changes in the seven kingdoms going into season 4 of the "Game of Thrones" Series. Dragons will be reaching puberty, marriages will be uniting kingdoms, and Brittish actors portraying swashbuckling warriors will be replaced. Not only that, but there may be a newfound relationship budding between two roughly hewn allies that were forced together in season three.
Brienne of Tarth is a powerhouse of a warrior that could rival even the most grizzled mercenary foe, though she's gone most of her life bearing an extreme prejudice because she was a woman. It seems like through her brief stint as Jaime Lannister's caretaker that she may have found someone who can see through her incidental attributes and into the heart of bravery and courage that beats inside.
Though some fans hope to see this acknowledgement blossom into romance, Gwenodline Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth, recently revealed in an interview posted on Zap 2 It that she's happy if the relationship stays the way it is: "What I love about the relationship is that it's so rare to see a man and woman have a relationship that is born out of a begrudging respect for each other, and it's about that respect for each other, and the bond and the friendship that they have; that it's not sexually motivated. It's just out of the companionship and their admiration for each other."
Meanwhile, across the sea, fans of the show and the novels were equally displeased with the casting of Brittish actor Ed Skrien as hardened warrior Daario who eagerly seeks out Daenerys Targaryen's affections. The actor seemed lifeless and unexceptional, neither possessing the lothario boldness that might give his character allure, nor the sincere fawning devotion that might prove his worthiness as a potential suitor. Though arguably less handsom, fans might be more accepting of the new actor who will play Daario this season, Michiel Huisman, who has recently been seen in the Country music centered television show "Nashville". There he played an auburn-haired Romeo to the series main character. Will he have what it takes to be a battle-scarred conqueror and a romantic interest for the princess as well? We'll have to find out as the season starts this coming Sunday on April 6th.
