Galaxy S4 VS iPhone 5: Specs, Camera, Price Review / Samsung Finally Knocks Apple Off Throne with New Galaxy S4

I'm on the verge of my brain exploding with Galaxy S4 vs iPhone 5 comparisons, but the smartphone market is tricky. And I want you to have all the information regarding the industry's top 2 phones specs, features, price and everything in between.

Design:

Samsung Galaxy S4: 7.7mm thick, plastic back
Apple iPhone 5 - 7.6mm thick, aluminum back

Though the Galaxy 4 has a much larger screen than the elongated iPhone 5, it's not noticeably thicker which is great for pockets!

Screen:

Samsung Galaxy S4: 1080p, 4.99-inch Super AMOLED display
Apple iPhone 5: 1136 x 640, 4-inch IPS display

The screen size and resolution is where the Galaxy S4 shines. Full HD and almost an inch more display space makes editing photos and Web browsing that much easier to do on the go.

Let's take a break from the specs and focus on price. There's a ton of contract offers to sort out that change sporadically. Right now you can purchase a 16GB iPhone 5 from AT&T for $200 with a 2-year contract. Same price, same storage, and same contract for the Galaxy S4.

Let's check out some under the hood specs.

Galaxy S4: Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 1.9GHz CPU, 2GB RAM
iPhone 5: Apple A6 dual-core 1.2GHz, 1GB RAM

It's not really fair to compare the processors because the Galaxy S4 was released months after the iPhone 5. Expect the iPhone 5S to match a lot of the processor specs as the Galaxy S4. Still the Galaxy S4 is the clear winner...for now.

Camera:

Galaxy S4: 13-megapixel, LED flash
iPhone 5: 8-megapixel, LED flash

Again, the camera is another feature that seems a little outdated for the iPhone 5. Expect the iPhone 5S at the very least, to match the Galaxy S4's 13-megapixel range.

Software:

Samsung Galaxy S4: Android 4.2 with TouchWiz
Apple iPhone 5: iOS 6.1

As far as operating systems go, use your gut. Whatever seems more intuitve to you choose. If you've grown up using the iOS from Apple and want a change, try out Android. If you're a total Apple fanboy and love the curves and playful aesthetic of iOS, stick with the iPhone.
