Galaxy Note Edge Release Date: Curved Smartphone Launches in Japan

Samsung has finally released the much awaited Galaxy Note Edge on the Japanese market on Oct. 23 through two network carriers, the NTT DoCoMo and KDDI. Meanwhile, consumers in other parts of the world are eagerly waiting for the release of the product, which was introduced during Samsung's press briefing at the 2014 IFA event in Berlin.

The cutting-edge smartphone features a sleek partially-wraparound screen and comes with exciting specs that will offer stiff competition to many existing smartphones.

It is said that the Galaxy Note Edge comes with high-end specs, counting a crystal-clear Quad HD resolution screen, a 2.7 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 805 CPU alongside 3 GB of RAM and a thin 8.3-mm body frame. The smartphone runs on the Android 4.4.4 KitKat and uses the Samsung TouchWiz operating system. It sports an outstanding 16-megapixel primary camera having Optical Image Stabilization.

The battery of the latest Samsung smartphone has a massive capacity. The Galaxy Note Edge also features a smoother S Pen stylus that makes writing on the device more fun.

The Galaxy Note Edge is thought to be a "limited edition concept" from Samsung and, currently, the company plans to release just about a million units.

Compared to the Galaxy Note 4, a fabulous tablet, the Galaxy Note Edge is somewhat pricier. Currently, the Japanese network carriers are offering the handsets for 93,312 yen (roughly US $875). On the other hand, the price of Galaxy Note 4 ranges between US $700 and US $826.

Samsung will be releasing the curved Galaxy Note variation in a number of other markets, including the U.K., Australia, China, Canada, Russia, as well as South Korea on different dates.

It is expected that Samsung will also release the Galaxy Note Edge soon in the American market, after the smartphone earns an FCC approval. Several reports claim that a number of U.S. network carriers such as Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, and AT&T will carry the new smartphone once they get the nod to sell the product.
