According to previous reports, the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Android 4.2.2 firmware update has been held up a bit longer than expected, and now the updates are facing further delays, reports say.

However, as per the recent updates, reports today stated that, "Those hoping for a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean or Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update any time this month, will likely want to temper their expectations as the two still unreleased updates have been pegged for arrival sometime in the third quarter of this year."

According to information from previous rumors and suggestions, both the Note 2 and S3 Android 4.2 updates will be released in May. However, days have gone by while Samsung has kept busy fixing bugs, with the most recent update for the Galaxy Note 2 being a significant bug fix update. The update will come out during the third quarter, as suggested by SamMobile.  

During the launch of Samsung's latest flagship, Galaxy S4 basically beat all previous smartphone generations, becoming the fastest selling smartphone in Samsung's history, as well as the fastest selling Android device to date. Since Samsung Galaxy S3 is compatible with the Galaxy S4 applications, most owners of the previous generation are also expected to buy the latest version, making this is a solid case for the previous delay of the Android 4.2.2. Jelly Bean update. 

In other words, this also means that updates for devices in the United States could be far off in the carriers' plans, who are typically last in rolling out major updates. Samsung has not confirmed any dates for either of these devices, so this information is based on unofficial, insider information. Software updates are also subject to change when it comes to release dates, so we could see these updates roll out either sooner or later than this rumor indicates.
