'Frozen' Movie Box Office News: Disney Film Most Profitable Cartoon in History Thanks to 'Let It Go' Song (VIDEO)

Disney's blockbuster film is now officially the most profitable animated movie in history. Disney revealed the popular film has now surpassed Disney and Pixar's 2010 "Toy Story 3" movie for that impressive feat.

According to IGN, "Frozen" made at least 1 billion dollars in the box office. The movie made reportedly 398.4 million dollars in the United States. In addition, the film made at least 674 million dollars globally.

The movie was released in movie theaters on November 27, 2013 in the United States. The film stars Idina Menzel as Elsa aka Snow Queen of Arendelle, Kristen Bell as Princess Anna, Josh Gad as Olaf the Snowman and Jonathan Groff as Kristoff. In addition, legendary voice actor Maurice LaMarche also plays Anna and Elsa's father aka the King of Arendelle.

The film won two Academy Awards at this year's Oscars on March 2, 2014. "Frozen" Co-Director Chris Buck, Co-Director Jennifer Lee, and Producer Peter Del Vecho received the Oscar award for Best Animated Feature. Surprisingly, that was the first time a Disney movie won the prestigious Best Animated Feature category.

"Frozen" songwriter Robert Lopez and his actress/songwriter wife Kristen Anderson-Lopez both received the Academy Award for Best Original Song thanks to the hit song "Let It Go." The song was made famous by Idina Menzel's vocal performance in the film. In addition, Demi Lovato's rendition of the popular Disney was also critically acclaimed.

According to the LA Times, "Toy Story 3" previously made 1.06 billion dollars in movie theaters. "Frozen" made approximately 1.072 billion dollars in the box office. The website also claimed the movie is trending on Twitter. The following words are buzzing on the network "#CongratulationsFrozen."
