A spot in the Roland Garros - French Open 2014 final will be awarded to the victor of a match between Novak Djokovic and Ernests Gulbis this Friday, June 6.

The match, held at the Court Philippe-Chatrier allots for a little over 15,000 spectators and features the traditional clay style court associated with the Roland Garros Tournament.

Novak Djokovic of Serbia is listed with the current second seed singles rank. Across the court, his opponent, Ernests Gulbis hails from Latvia and is ranked 17 in the singles ranking. Both players are familiar with their opponent's play style, due to their long history together, going as far back as their teenage years.

The teenagers turned professional, were trained at Niki Pilic's academy near Munich. There they had the chance to test the other's skill on the court. Djokovic states, "He was always very talented," and "I remember he came out in the practices swinging fully through the ball. He always had this confidence about him that you could say that even though he was 14, 15 at the time that he was going to become something big."

Gulbis, on the other hand, dwells not on the past, "The way I'm playing now, I never played like this," said Gulbis. "I never felt like this. What was in the past I don't even consider. I beat him once, also in a bad match. It's 0-0 for me."
