France will go head-to-head against Nigeria on June 30 at the Estádio Nacional de Brasilia in Brasilia, Brazil. The game starts at 12:00 p.m. ET and can be watched online through live stream via the link provided below (free for subscribers).
France advanced to the knockout round of the FIFA World Cup after finishing in first place in Group E with seven points. France finished in their final match versus Ecuador in a scoreless tie on Wednesday. France manager Didier Deschamps knows his team must have a better scoring performance in order to advance to the next round.
"We're in the last 16, which was our objective. It's going to take more than a draw to stop me from feeling happy about that. I made a lot of changes for this match, but the objective was the same. We did everything we could to score, but you can't win every match 3-0, and while I know we weren't quite as effective as we were against Switzerland, Ecuador are a very fine side who have a lot of pace up front. All the same, it's good that we didn't concede. I'm overjoyed, thrilled and very satisfied. There's a whole new competition starting now for us. We're going to savor the moment and then focus on Nigeria." said Deschamps to reporters.
The Nigerian national team is looking to upset France when the two squads face off this Monday. Nigeria finished in second place behind Argentina in the Group F standings with four points following their 3-2 loss to Lionel Messi and his team from Argentina on June 25.
"It's an honor and we're very happy to reach the next round. I think we lost the game because we showed them too much respect in the first half. After the break we managed to play our game, attacked more, had more possession and were better overall. But Argentina are a great team and Messi's a great player. He's blessed and there's no way you can escape him. Messi's from Jupiter," said Nigeria head coach Stephen Keshi to reporters.
The game will begin at 12 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the ESPN network or online through live stream by clicking here.
