'Floyd Mayweather vs Marcos Maidana 2' Fight Recap: Judges Score & Decision
Floyd Mayweather was victorious in his recent rematch bout against Marcos Maidana last Saturday. Stepping back into the comments both prize fighters said about each other prior to match showcases some interesting points.
The final tally resulted with one judge who scored it 115-112, and two judges who scored it 116-111, all for Mayweather.
Evidently, Mayweather remains undefeated, but Maidana was really looking forward to shattering his legendary streak. Beyond that, he was looking for redemption for his previous loss to the WBA and WBC welterweight champ.
"I think I did get tired in the first fight. I have to pace myself a little better and this time around I will be better," Maidana reasoned.
In the press conference for "Mayweather vs Maidana 2", the contenders got a chance to talk about their game plan.
"I just know that I have to win. I'm concentrated on winning. I am going to take out any doubts in my mind about the first fight. I've adjusted now and I think I'll be ready," said the 31-year old Argentine boxer said.
Mayweather on the other hand was just as confident, "Tune in and watch the fight because I'm going to be Floyd Mayweather and do what I do best and come out and win. I've been here before and I know what it takes to win at this level."
Meanwhile, Mayweather recently announced he plans to retire after his three next fights.
After Maidana, Mayweather's next two contenders are still unknown.
On a side note, Mayweather revealed that he's looking to retire. He broke the announcement, leaving so many fans disappointed, to ESPN when talking about about the Maidana rematch.
"As of right now, my focus is on Maidana. I can't focus on the other two fights after that. I have to focus on Maidana. After that we can't say who's the next two are going to be but I'm pretty sure the next two will be exciting fights," Mayweather told ESPN.
Although some speculate that one of Mayweather's last two fights will be against Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather claims he is uncertain if it will happen.
Stepping into a Mayweather versus Pacquiao discussion, the (47-0-0) champion puglist had this to say,
"I can't say what the future holds, but Arum and Pacquiao is trying to sell tickets for the (fight with the) guy named (Chris) Algieri. Trying to sell tickets for that fight. I don't know where they fighting, I don't know anything about what Top Rank is doing," said Mayweather.
