Floyd Mayweather Next Fight News: Champion Boxer Finally Talks About Potential Manny Pacquiao Bout

Floyd Mayweather Jr., finally broke his silence about the potential May 2 date with Manny Pacquiao. But it wasn't exactly what boxing fans wanted to hear.

Speaking with Shade 45 Radio, the undefeated fighter expressed his desire to fight the Filipino, but said they have yet to reach an agreement.

"Do I want to fight Pacquiao? Absolutely. Are we negotiating? Absolutely. But has the fight been made? Not at all," Mayweather said.

The interview comes just a few days after Pacquiao said that they are giving Mayweather until the end of the month to agree to the May 2 fight slated to be in Las Vegas.

Top Rank head honcho Bob Arum has earlier said that the eight division champion has already agreed to all the terms laid out by Mayweather's camp, which included a 60/40 split in favor of the American.

"Lots of times when Pacquiao says, "I agree,' you don't have nothing to do with this. You're not a boss. On the chessboard, you're a pawn. They want to point the finger at the other guy, which is me," the pound for pound boxing king said.

"We're going to make it happen, though. We're trying, but it's been extremely difficult dealing with Top Rank."

Everyone in the boxing world expects a fight between Mayweather and Pacquiao to break all boxing records, but in the interview, Mayweather again pointed to Pacquiao's marketability.

"Once again, we have to look at his pay-per-view numbers. His last fight didn't even do 300,000 homes, he said citing Pacquiao's bout with Chris Algieri last November. Mayweather's last fight against Marcos Maidana last September generated 925,000 pay-per-view buys.

Industry experts have pegged that should a fight finally be arranged, Mayweather is set to make at least $120 million.

"No matter what you say, Floyd Mayweather is still winning. When they take shots at Floyd Mayweather, he's still winning. He's still making hundreds of millions," the man who calls himself "Money" said.
