Floyd Mayweather Next Fight 2014 News: Amir Khan & Kell Brook Toss Their Hats into the Ring

Even before Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s scheduled fight against Marcos Maidana in September happens, there are already rumors regarding the champion's next bout. It has been speculated that Mayweather will face Amir Khan or Kell Brook in the ring.

The British fighter and former WBA light welterweight Champion, Khan, currently stands a chance to face the undefeated champion Mayweather, in 2015. Also, another British fighter, Kell Brook has also thrown his hat into the ring to get a match against Mayweather.

Brook's team already announced interest in facing the undefeated Champion. Promoter Eddie Hearn previously said that Brook is an obvious match for Mayweather, "I think you have to say Kell is now in the running to face Floyd Mayweather. Everyone in the division wants to fight Floyd but if you hold a world title, then you are more likely to face him than if you don't." Hearn told BBC Radio Sheffield.

While the unbeaten Mayweather, after 46 fights, is scheduled to defend his World Boxing Council and World Boxing Association titles against Argentina's Maidana on September 13, rumors suggest that the fight against Brook will not happen before the Khan fight.

Meanwhile, Brook, 28 recently beat Shawn Porter on points and is set to defend his title for the first time at Sheffield Arena on December 6. Hearn applauded the fighter saying, "I just felt total jubilation at the end of the fight. We're a close team and there was a lot of emotion there. To bring him back after the injuries he had it was just so pleasing. He has got what he deserves now. He has the ability to unify the division and be a massive star," Hearn continued.

Given that Brook is a candidate for a Mayweather fight, news agencies suggest that it will be Khan first as talks between the camps may begin this week. However, Khan recently fought Luis Collazo, which turned out to be a fight that many found to be lackluster and unimpressive.
