'The Flash' Cast News, Villains Rumors: Heat Wave, Weather Wizard, Captain Boomerang & More
The CW's new superhero series, 'The Flash' aired its pilot episode on October 7, and received some fairly decent reviews. Now that many fans of the show are excited to see more, a list of the upcoming villains and their actors has emerged via TheGeekTwins.
Starting with Heat Wave, this villain first appeared in the The Flash comic book issue #140 (1963). The actor lined up to play him in the new TV series, is Dominic Purcell, of 'Prison Break' fame.
Heat Wave's real name is Mick Rory, and he harnesses the power of fire. His powers in combination with Captain Cold, will truly give Flash something to watch out for.
Captain Cold is next on the list, and he first appeared in the comic book entitled Showcase issue #8 (1957). Strangely enough, the actor set to play this villain also starred in 'Prison Break', Wentworth Miller. Captain Cold uses a special gun of his that creates extreme cold, and will most likely appear in the fourth episode of CW's 'The Flash'.
Weather Wizard is also set to face Flash in an upcoming episode, he first appeared in The Flash issue #110 (1959). It's pretty obvious what this villain will be capable of, he can control the weather. In the comic book series, this villain's real name was Mark Mardon, but according to IMDb, Chad Rook is set to play Clyde Mardon. Evidently, there's been a slight alteration to the character for the TV series.
Captain Boomerang will appear on the show to face Flash as well, he was first seen in issue #117 of The Flash (1960). This villain's arsenal contains trick boomerangs including bladed, explosive, incendiary, and electrified boomerangs. Captain Boomerang will be played by Nick Tarabay, and will appear in the crossover episode entitled, "Flash vs. Arrow."
Beyond all that, rumor has it that another interesting villain will be making an appearance on CW's 'The Flash'. Apparently, Gorilla Grodd was hinted in the pilot episode, but his inclusion has yet to be confirmed.
On a side note, many user comments about the pilot episode all seemed to lean in the same direction. One Reddit user wrote on the official episode discussion thread, "I thought overall the pilot was pretty good. The character drama that is typical of CW, I'm not so sure of, but as a superhero show it's solid. He also seems to have revealed his identity to a lot of people already."
Another compared it to other popular and current superhero shows, "Having Barry in costume and as The Flash in the pilot is awesome. It picks up so quickly with the character, which is what I loved about Arrow and didn't like about Smallville."
'The Flash' Season 1 Episode 2 entitled "Fastest Man Alive" airs October, 14 on The CW.
