Nyugen, however, is a resident of Vietnam and is not known to have any ties to the American metropolis. Charges refuting this claim of a suicide by handgun came out a little while after the initial report. It is clear from various sources that Flappy Bird creator Dong Nyugen is very much alive.

The 'news' article gave a false background story to the "breaking" incident as well, claiming that Flappy Bird had been causing users to commit suicide out of frustration. The report then insinuated that guilt over these deaths had caused Nyugen to take his own life as a result.

After these rumors surfaced sources confirmed that none of those claims were based on reality, but were malicious rumors attempting to stir up publicity.
