Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn Beta Testing Live on PlayStation Network and Open for Everyone with a PS4
Final Fantasy 14's PS4 beta is now live on the PlayStation Network, and is open to all players at the moment.
Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn launched for the PS3 and Windows PC last September, and eventually went on to be quite popular, which is what is warranting the next-gen release.
The next-gen version of the game has updated 1080p graphics, enables use of the DualShock 4 touchpad and Share button, and allows for mouse and keyboard controls for easy transition for those who are used to PC play. Cinemablend also reported the game will use PS Vita Remote Play as well.
According to IGN, players can access their PS3 and PC characters said game director Naoki Yoshida two weeks ago. The first beta will run from Feb. 22 to March 3. The second beta will begin on April 4, and at that time players can switch over the characters.
"Please be aware that after transferring to the PS4 you'll be unable to play the PS3 version using your existing copy," Square Enix community project manager Hergen Thaens said on PlayStation Blog. "Users who wish to play using both the PS3 and PS4 are required to purchase the PS4 version separately. Users who own multiple service accounts for the PS3 can transfer all accounts to the PS4. Users transferring their accounts will have access during the early access period, scheduled from April 11th to the 13th. Please note: to transfer your PS3 account, you must have logged into it from a PS3 at least once."
The game will be a MMOG with both a Standard Edition and Collector's Edition with pre-orders available now. If pre-ordered, the gamer will receive a mog-cap and a Cait Sith doll minion, reported Polygon. Also included with the Collector's Edition will be an art book, soundtrack CD, art cards, a themed security token and some in game bonus features and items.
The Standard Edition of the game will be $39.99 while The Collector's Edition will be $79.99. The digital Collector's Edition will be $59.99.
The full game will be available on April 11.
