Fight Club 2 Release Date, Rumors: Comic Book Sequel Launches May 2015
Nearly 10 years since the release of the blockbuster film 'Fight Club', and author Chuck Palahniuk recently teased fans about a sequel that will come in the form of a 10-issue comic book series. Apparently, the addition to the story will debut May 2015.
Interior Artwork handler Cameron Stewart says 'Fight Club 2' will be a sequel to the novel and not the 1999 film. The setting of the story will take place 10 years during the wedding of the 'Fight Club' narrator.
"The thing I find really liberating about it is that, because it's a sequel to the novel, not to the film, we have a little bit more freedom to play with the visuals. It's a good thing and it's a bad thing, because the film is so ingrained in popular culture the image of Tyler Durden is Brad Pitt - and we cannot make it look anything like Brad Pitt for various legal reasons." Stewart told Comic Book Resources.
Spinning the story into a comic book series has 'Fight Club' fans excited as it seems to be a very suitable concept. According to reports, the comic book will be introducing new concepts as hinted by the teaser art recently released. In the photo, the married couple stands side by side with Tyler Durden in the background. Tyler is painted on the stained glass window looking more like the superhero Thor.
"He's supposed to have that kind of hairstyle. I thought that putting him in the Jesus position with the longer hair was a good way to introduce that concept to the new audience." Stewart explained to Comic Book Resources.
Fans would have to hold on just a bit as Palahniuk is still doing layouts for the first issue of the 'Fight Club 2' comic book series. There is still no exact date, but it was reported that it will be released this May 2015.
