Fatal Text While Driving: See The Unfinished Text of Colorado College Student Who Died

On April 3rd, Alexander Heit's life got cut tradgacially short in what appears to him being distracted by his phone while driving.  His parents decided to release this photo to help raise more awareness about the dangers of texting while driving.

According to reports by witnesses, Heit appeared to have his head down and seemed distracted when he drifted into on-coming traffic.  One car slowed down and tried to move out of the way, but when Heit looked up he jerked his wheel too quickly and swerved off of the road, rolling his car.  Shortly after, he was pronounced dead.

Tradgic events like this always bring up the discussion again of using mobile devices in cars, whether it's texting, email, facebook, etc.
Police say that fatal and serious road crash investigations are taking longer to complete because police now checked a driver's mobile phone records with their phone provider to see if they were talking or sending a text message at the time of the crash.

What are your thoughts on texting and driving?  Should it always be illegal?  Is there any better way to regulate it?
