'Fatal Attraction' Reboot News: Paramount Announces New Series
Paramount has announced that it will be airing a reboot of its iconic thriller, "Fatal Attraction." The reboot will be in the form of a one hour long event television series with Maria and Andre Jacquemetton, executive producing and writing for the show.
The series is being developed under Paramount Television Production.
Fox Broadcasting Network is also on board and as commissioned the script. Stanley R. Jaffe and Anonymous Content's Rosalie Swedlin are executive producing as well and Dave Madden, Fox's president of entertainment developed and supervised the original feature when he was an executive at Paramount.
Although there have not been any revelation of exact details as yet, Deadline reports that the reimagining will take a look at the ways in which a married man's indiscretion comes back to haunt him.
The original film was released in 1987 and was directed by Adrian Lyne, starring Michael Douglas and Glenn Close.
The movie had a huge influence on psycho sexual thrillers that followed in its wake. In the film, we see Douglas' successful and married attorney begin a weekend affair with Close's publishing executive only for her to begin stalking him and his family.
This movie gave birth to the term "bunny boiler." This references the iconic scene in the movie in which Close's character kills Douglas' daughter's pet rabbit and leaves it on the family stove to boil.
Paramount's relatively new television division has been expanding quite a lot under Amy Powell. The company is using the library of its parent studio for television adaptations.
These include series based on "Shutter Island," "American Gigolo" and others.
