Fast and Furious 7 Release Date Earlier Than Expected: Launch Date Bumped Up One Week

Due to the tragic death of one of its stars, Paul Walker, the production schedule for Fast and Furious 7 has been repeatedly delayed.

Many aspects of the film were put on hold for months while big changes were made to the script. Universal needed time to decide on how to proceed with this unfortunate development. In the last few months, re-shoots have been taking place with the help of the deceased actor's brothers, who have agreed to help finish his final film by standing in for the actor by means of motion capture and facial replacement CGI.

While the rewrites and new technology resulted in shooting delays and additional costs for the studio, Universal chairman Donna Langley assured the press that apart from these setbacks, everybody involved in the film is working together to make the movie possible, "This production is working through some challenges that are historically unprecedented. The crew and cast have been nothing but terrific under these circumstances," said Langley in a statement.

Furthermore, Universal has announced that instead of being released on April 10, 2015, the movie will now come out on April 3, 2015"”a whole week earlier than the previous release date.

Directed by James Wan and written by Chris Morgan, Fast and Furious 7 finds Dom and his crew back in Los Angeles. They deal with Ian Shaw, who wants revenge for the death of his brother, Owen, in Fast and Furious 6.

The cast will include Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Lucas Black, plus Jason Statham and Kurt Russell. Universal has not issued a statement on whether this will be the last film in the franchise.
