‘Fargo’ Season 2 Renewed: New Plot Set in Sioux Falls 1979
Following the renewal announcement for a 'Fargo' Season 2, writer-producer Noah Hawley told press that the series is going to take a stroll down memory lane on a new case that's set in 1979 Sioux Falls. FX's dark crime-comedy drama will start filming early next year and will be shooting scenes in Luverne, Minnesota, and Fargo.
In a press conference held at Beverly Hills during the Television Critics Association, Hawley teased about what fans can expect when the show returns next year. Entertainment Weekly reported Lou Solverson taking a 33-year rewind as a state cop who's returned from the Vietnam War.
"He thought he left the war behind, but he came back and here it is, it's domestic," Hawley told members of the press, "We will meet Molly's mother, who was not a character in season 1, and we'll learn what happened to her. Ben Schmidt [played by Peter Breitmayer in the first season] will factor in there somewhere. There were a lot of clues left in the first season and we'll do our best to hit those," he continued.
Given the story plot, the show-runner confirmed that the original cast will not return for Season 2, even Keith Carradine. According to Hawley, 'Fargo' Season 2 will feature interesting back-stories and delve deeper on Solverson's version of hate and evil, which tackles some of the best moments in American history.
"Lou Solverson does talk a little bit about Sioux Falls and the kind of hate and evil that he experienced and saw. It was a defining moment for his life," Warren Littlefield said in an interview in Los Angeles.
