Fantastic 4 Reboot Plot Rumors, Cast News: Evil Villains Revealed, Tim Blake Nelson to Play 'Mole Man'
It is now confirmed that "The Fantastic Four" Reboot will have two villains. Dr. Doom was already there but now a 2nd evil vilain - Mole Man - will be set against the superhero foursome.
While it may be a while before we actually see Mole Man, the character has already shown the course the new Fantastic Four movie will take.
Tim Blake Nelson has been selected to play the Marvel villain, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
According to a report on the site, "Tim Blake Nelson is in final negotiations to join the cast of 20th Century Fox's reboot of 'The Fantastic Four.'"
This entertainment site also revealed a number of important plot spoilers and there is ample hint that the producers are already planning a sequel for "The Fantastic Four."
THR reports, "Sources say the Mole Man will not appear in this movie but Elder's appearance does set up the character to be the villain in future installments of the franchise. The trade describes the film's Elder as 'an eccentric and socially awkward scientist."'
Notwithstanding his stature, the Mole Man is actually pretty frightening. According to Screenrant, those who are not familiar with the comics, Harvey Elder is more familiar as Mole, who is a nuclear engineer as well as an explorer. He was shunned by the society owing to his very small, unattractive appearance and failure to get along with others. "Eventually, this drove Harvey Elder underground, where he became the leader of a underground hive of creatures called the Moloids."
Being the chief of an entire subterranean race and possessing the scientific genius nearly equaling that of Reed Richards, Mole Man is expected to be a creditable cinematic challenge.
However, the reboot does not only entail action. In a recent interview, Nelson said, "I absolutely loved working on Hulk and feel extremely blessed that Marvel, Fox, and especially (Fantastic Four director) Josh Trank and his team have invited me back into the universe. The script is excellent. It has real heart, and it shows a true understanding of what it is to be a burgeoning adult geeked out to the margins."
