'Fantastic Four' Movie Release Date, Cast Rumors: New Human Torch, Evans Drops for Jordan?
20th Century Fox's 'Fantastic Four' film may be a long way from its release date scheduled on June 19, 2015, but news agencies are already talking about the upcoming blockbuster. The latest news update claims that the Human Torch in the film will be played by an African-American actor.
With the film still in its early stages of production, news agencies have started to speculate who will be on the casting list for the 'Fantastic Four' film reboot. One of the key characters in the film, the Human Torch who was played by Chris Evans in 'The Fantastic Four' 2005 film and in 'The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" 2007 movie, is speculated to be replaced by actor Michael B. Jordan.
According to reports, Jordan who is known for his roles in 'The Wire', 'Friday Night Lights' and 'Fruitvale Station' is speculated to take on the Human Torch in the upcoming movie. The rumors garnered different reactions from the fans since the role was well received when played by Evans who is now known for his role as Captain America.
Jordan in his recent interview with the Source Magazine cleared the rumors that the role is still not locked onto him just yet, "Not cast, but me and Josh...I was his choice. He wanted me to play the role and I wanted to play the role. So it was something that he told me around his birthday about a year and some change ago, right after 'Chronicle'. And it was just like cool...let's try to make this happen," the actor revealed.
The film will not cast Evans despite fan based demand, but many feel Jordan will do just as well if chosen by Josh Trank. Evans already met the actor and gave him a little piece of advice as revealed by Jordan.
"Nah. It is a reboot you know, it's its own thing. It's its own origins story. I did get a chance to talk to Chris about it, I met him at this event and he was basically like, 'Man I can't give you anything.' He said, 'You're great, you're awesome. Just do your thing. And enjoy it. It's gonna be fun.' That was just a really cool piece of information, words of encouragement from the guy who killed the role. He really did a really great job and hats off to him with how talented he is cause he's doing an amazing job with Captain America. I really enjoy those films as well so that's kind of pretty much where that was," Jordan stated.
