The long-running Fox animated series 'Family Guy' was confirmed for its Season 13 renewal earlier this year. Fans can expect an eventful installment, especially since the show is opening the season with a crossover episode with 'The Simpsons'.

The season premiere episode entitled "The Simpsons Guy" will run for an hour. A trailer for the said episode was already released at the San Diego Comic-Con in July.

The trailer shows the Griffins standing in front of a "Welcome to Springfield" sign. After exploring the town, the family eventually meets the Simpsons. The two families get along well at first, with Bart and Stewie going about mischievous acts and Lisa teaching Meg how to play the saxophone. Things turn sour, however, when Peter and Homer ended up having an intense argument over their favorite beers, Pawtucket Patriot Ale and Duff Beer.

The season premiere episode of 'Family Guy' is expected to end rumors of rivalry between the two long-running shows.

"I hope it entertains people for an hour, and I hope it puts to rest rumors that there's a big feud between us and 'The Simpsons'. And I hope it gets people to end global warming," executive producer Steve Callaghan joked with Entertainment Weekly.

It is said that although the episode was written by 'Family Guy' producers, writers of 'The Simpsons' also contributed their creative input.

"We sent them the script, and I think between Jim [Brooks], Matt [Groening], and Al [Jean], they had one or two lines in the hour-long episode they asked us to tweak. They gave us free rein," 'Family Guy' producer Rich Appel, said at the Television Critics Association press tour.

Meanwhile, fans can expect a guest star-studded Season 13 for 'Family Guy'.

It is said that the upcoming season will feature the voices of several high profile artists. The show's Season 13 guest lists include Jeff Garlin, Liam Neeson, Allison Janney, Julie Bowen and Lea Thompson.

'Family Guy' Season 13 will premiere on Sept. 28 on Fox.
