Fallout 4 Release Date: Bethesda Dispels Rumors of New Game Reveal at Gamescom 2014

Bethesda has put a rest to any swirling rumors that there will be a "Fallout 4" reveal at the Gamescom 2014 event in Cologne, Germany.

A fan recently took to social media to ask Pete Hines, Vice President of Bethesda Softworks, about the possibility of "Fallout 4" featuring at the Gamescom event. The fan, whose username is @Michael_F1967, tweeted Hines with, "@DCDeacon So Bethesda are on a list for Gamescon, apparently its an action-adventure RPG. I wonder what it could be?"

Hines, however, answered in the negative, shattering the hopes of many Fallout fans who are waiting for the latest game to be revealed.

"@Michael_F1967 the evil within and eso. now you can stop wondering," Hines posted on his Twitter account.

One of Bethesda's new titles, The Evil Within, is a horror survival game being helmed by Shinji Mikami, who is also credited for the "Resident Evil" series. The game is slated to be released in October.

Meanwhile, Elder Scrolls Online has already been released in April, but only for PC and Linux platforms. The game developer is expected to make an announcement for ESO's release dates for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at the Gamescom event, according to the IBTimes.

Fallout 3: New Vegas was released in 2008, and since then, Bethesda and Obsidian Entertainment have been quiet on any updates about a possible sequel to the post-apocalyptic action game.

In January 2013, however, Erik Dellums, who voiced Three Dog in Fallout 3, hinted on his Twitter account about the possibility of a new "Fallout" game.

"To all my #Fallout3 and #ThreeDog fans: There may be more of the Dog coming! Fingers crossed!" Dellums wrote.

Bethesda didn't make an official statement about the tweet, leading fans to speculate that the news was a hoax.
