Ex-Yankees Pitcher Mariano Rivera Will Share His Christian Testimony in Upcoming Visit to Brooklyn Tabernacle (VIDEO)

Mariano Rivera, arguably the greatest closer in Major League Baseball history, will share his amazing testimony at Brooklyn Tabernacle this Sunday.

The 44-year-old Panama native will make his appearance at the famous church in New York to reveal how he finally accepted Christ as Savior after a pastor in his native homeland gave an altar call at the end of church service 22 years ago.

Throughout his legendary career, Rivera has always gave credit to Jesus Christ for his success and Hall of Fame career.

"It is a gift from the Lord," said Rivera in his brand new book The Closer, "I have known for a long time that He is using me for His own purposes, that he wants my pitching to help spread the good news about the Gospel of Jesus."

In addition, during his playing career, Rivera had the motivational words "Phil. 4:13" written on his glove in reference to the popular Philippians 4:13 Bible verse, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."

Rivera also mentioned in the book that there was one good thing to come out of him blowing Game 7 of the 2001 World Series vs the Arizona Diamondbacks on November 4. Ex-MLB Luis Gonzalez hit the walk-off single which gave the Diamondbacks their lone championship so far in franchise history.

"Our losing had saved his [former teammate Enrique Wilson's] life, his family's life," said Rivera.

If the Yankees had won the World Series that year, Wilson and his family were going to take the same plane that crashed and killed 260 people.

Rivera retired at the end of the 2013 season after spending his entire 17 year career as a member of the New York Yankees. In addition, "The Sandman" won five World Series championships in 1996, 1998-2000 and 2009 alongside Yankees captain Derek Jeter. His ex-teammate (Jeter) has announced this year will be his last season in baseball.

Rivera will be the guest speaker on Sunday, June 29 from 3pm-5pm at the Brooklyn Tabernacle's Main Sanctuary. The seats are free and everyone is welcome to witness Rivera share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and everything God has done for him on-and-off the field.
