EPL Transfer News Summer 2014: Manchester United and Juan Cuadrado, Loic Remy to Chelsea, Samuel Eto’o to Liverpool
A recent report in the Independent hinted that AFC Fiorentina winger Juan Guillermo Cuadrado is moving to Manchester United.
In fact, Barcelona are also said to be trying their best to acquire the 26-year-old Colombian international, who played a vital role for his team in the recently concluded FIFA 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
Talking to Sport Mediaset, AFC Fiorentina president Andrea Della said, "I met with Juan (Cuadrado) today, and he asked me if he could leave. I asked him, 'Stay one more year', but I'm not optimistic."
Della also mentioned, "Faced with an important offer, the boy wants to leave," adding, "We'll give ourselves time until the end of August, but even without him we'll be ultra-competitive."
Meanwhile, Sport, a Catalan newspaper, has hinted that the Red Devils have already agreed about terms with Cuadrado.
As far as Liverpool FC is concerned, they are looking to Samuel Eto'o for solving their striker problems. The Reds are really confronting numerous problems upfront, as Luis Suarez, top scorer of the previous season, left the team for Barcelona.
A report in The Telegraph says that while AFC Ajax are already negotiating with the 33-year-old Cameroon striker, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is likely to swoop in soon.
In the meantime, Chelsea are trying to find out if Loic Remy is available from Queens Park Rangers as Didier Drogba is troubled with an injury. Recently, Drogba suffered an ankle injury during a friendly with Ferencvaros.
Initially, Remy was set for a Liverpool move, but the deal went amiss after the 27-year-old Frenchman failed to clear the medical examination. Currently, Remy is training with QPR, and QPR boss Harry Redknapp, who is positive that he will be fit to face Hull City on Saturday.
