The Detroit-rapper, who became a superstar worldwide following his first three major-label album releases, The Slim Shady LP, The Marshall Mathers LP, and The Eminem Show, has been in and out of the spotlight in subsequent years. Following the success of his first few albums, Eminem also enjoyed a huge success with the movie 8 Mile which earned him an Academy Award for Best Original Song.

Following the 2002 The Eminem Show, Eminem released Encore in 2004, Relapse in 2009, and Recovery in 2010. Finally, after a 3-year hiatus from his solo-career, the 13 times Grammy award winner is back with his eight studio album.

Currently there is not much said on the album, but to give an idea of how it might sound it might be worth noting that Eminem's long-term mentor Dr. Dre is still in the loop on how things are developing. In an interview with radio station Power 106, Dr. Dre hinted, "Em is finishing up his project."

Fans first caught wind of the album after Eminem's merchandise store began marketing a snapback hat that had what it called "landmark Eminem solo albums," including the year 2013.

Earlier this year the President of Eminem's Shady Records, Paul Rosenberg, gave the final proof an album was in the works as he told Billboard, "We fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013. He's been working on it for some time. It's safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we're not exactly sure when. We've got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we're trying to see what else lines up."

So if you are looking forward to Eminem and his alter ego the Slim Shady's newest offering, be sure to keep your eyes open after Memorial Day, May 27. We sure will!
