Elton John Cancels Summer Tour, Will Have Appendicitis Surgery / Hyde Park Show Will Still Go on, Get Free Tickets Here

Elton John was forced with a choice no performer wants to make, he had to cancel his summer tour due to appendicitis.

He was scheduled to headline Hype Park in London on July 12th, the Collisioni Festival tonight in Italy and a performance in Germany on July 11th. His other July dates have all been cancelled as well.

According to his website, they called the doctors on his European tour and they diagnosed him with appendicitis.

The statement says, "Sir Elton is currently undergoing a course of intensive antibiotics and is expected to undergo surgery in the UK in the coming weeks, once doctors can be confident they have sufficiently reduced toxins within the inflamed appendicitis site."

"Elton is incredibly disappointed to postpone these tour dates. To know that he made such super-human efforts and continued to perform to thousands through his illness only confirms his dedication to his European fans. He is eager to be back on top form and return to play the remaining shows starting in early September 2013," a spokesperson said.

His website says that he will not return to performing until he has fully recovered from his surgery.

The show in Hyde Park will go on for FREE with performers Ray Davies (The Kinks), Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe and Gabrielle Aplin. People who had already bought tickets will receive a full refund.
