EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK: 'Finding Dory', the highly anticipated sequel to 'Finding Nemo' is a Go, thanks to Ellen Degeneres' hilarious and long-time pleading to Pixar

SPOILER ALERT: FIRST LOOK CONTAINS NEW INFORMATION ABOUT THE UPCOMING FILM 'FINDING DORY'

Ellen Degeneres will return to the big screen as Dory, the lovable and forgetful blue tang fish, more than a decade after the original became a Disney classic.

"I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time. I'm not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating 'Toy Story 16.' But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It's got a lot of heart, it's really funny, and the best part is -- it's got a lot more Dory,"

The story line will pick up with a flashback to the moment that Marlin and Dory meet in the middle of the ocean.

"One thing we couldn't stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met [Nemo's dad] Marlin. In 'Finding Dory,' she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way." director Andrew Stanton said.

The sequel, not set to release until 2015, will have some returning characters and new faces. It's set to tell the story of Dory finding her origin, and family, about a year after life return's to normal for Nemo's family. The original film by Pixar raked in $921 million worldwide, and it was the first Pixar production to win an Academy Award for best animated feature.

"Kids, let that be a lesson to you. Anything is possible if you're patient and beg enough on national television. I'm excited that it's finally happening, and I read the script. It's fantastic. It's hilarious. It's warm. It's everything that you want it to be," Degeneres said on her television show.
