Drug cartel leader 'El Chapo' Guzman, the most wanted drug lord in Mexico, has been arrested after years of living on the run. But where is his 24 year old wife, beauty queen Emma Coronel?

Coronel is the mother of the drug cartel leader's two twin girls, and reports are claiming that she could have been the unidentified woman found with him during the raid on his condo in a popular resort town at the weekend.

There is widespread speculation on the possible whereabouts of the former beauty pageant star, but nothing official has been reported as yet.

Interested parties are also speculating on how long the man, who can arguably be called the most powerful single person in Mexico, can be held in prison without escaping. Others are suggesting he could be moved to the United States and tried under a legal system less prone to internal corruption.

"If he is not extradited, he will be able to escape in a period of time. When you arrest the most powerful man in Mexico and the Americas, if you speak with any cartel member, they will say that he is even more powerful than the Mexican President, Pena Nieto," said Al Paso Intelligence Center Phil Jordan.

This is an event simultaneously significant for both the Mexican, United States and even European national governments.

"El Chapo," as Guzman is called, is a 54-year-old multi-billionaire, who sought out and married Emma Coronel six years after escaping a high security Mexican prison by being smuggled out by a laundry truck.

She is the daughter of one of his top deputies, and gave birth to twins by him in Los Angels in 2011. She has dual-Mexican and American citizenship.
