Ebola Survivor Dr. Kent Brantly News: Talks Survival Story, Accredits ZMApp Drug
As the Ebola crisis is threatening America, there is one man who has gained centerfold attention and has been named Mr. Unbreakable for having survived the deadly Ebola disease.
Dr. Kent Brantly and his survival story came under the spotlight when he donated his plasma (via transfusion) to three Ebola patients including the nurse, Nina Pham.
Dr. Kent Brantly was speaking at the Abilene Christian University and said people should remain calm and not indulge in hysteria. The doctor had contacted the disease while working with a relief organization- Samaritan's Purse in Liberia.
The doctor who knew the deadly consequences of the disease was flown back to Emory University Hospital and spent three weeks in isolation. He was then declared as cured and deemed fit for discharge as was termed as a miraculous day by the doctor.
Though the doctor has credited the recovery to the ZMApp drug and other things, the doctors at Emory hospital have not endorsed those claims because a Spanish priest died of Ebola after being treated with the drug. In addition to the drug, the doctor has received a blood transfusion from a Liberian boy who had survived the disease.
Dr. Kent Brantly is urging America and its allies to step up research to find a cure for Ebola and has claimed that the ground situation in West Africa is far worse than imagined.
The doctor then met President Obama who thanked Dr. Kent Brantly and his wife Amber for the services rendered. The Doctor then went on to provide his testimony in front of Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
