**UPDATE: James Maslow was voted off Dancing With the Stars Season 18 on Monday night. His exit means there are just three dancing couples remaining for Tuesday night's final eliminations where the winner of this season's Mirrorball Trophy will be revealed.

With the departure of Charlie White, an Olympic gold medalist, there is a slightly unexpected final four contestants in "Dancing With The Stars" Season 18, which airs at 8:00 p.m. ET on Monday. Underdogs Candace Cameron Bure and James Maslow are all still in in, and one of them will be trying to pull off a shock win against Meryl Davis.

Although nearly everyone expected White and his ice dancing partner to make it to the final, they did not get enough votes from fans to remain in the final week of the reality dance show.

That means Amy Purdy, bronze medalist in the Paralympic snowboard event, is somewhat of a surprise in the final, although fans point out she has been one of the most improved, making significant progress week on week as the show has gone on. Creative choreography has been the main strength of Amy and her partner Derek Hough. They have been pulling out all the stops and are not afraid to do innovative things. They have been dancing with the kind of spirit, creativity and energy that often wins couples the Mirror Ball Trophy.

Now it is down to the final though, no contestants can really afford to play it safe. The judges as well as the fans have witnessed plenty of ballroom dancing over the years, and so while excellence in execution is essential, innovative choreography and movement will help to make an impression and help scores points, wins votes, and allow the winner to stand out.

On Monday night, the four finalists will dance two routines. The first will be a repeat of the "Switch Up" dance performed earlier this season with each star dancing the same schedule with their regular partner. Subsequently, the couple will perform their freestyles, where anything goes. The couples will be able to use additional dancers, props, and everything else that they can imagine.

At the end of Monday's show we will see one couple leaving, and the remaining three will put together a 24-hour routine for Tuesday night. The Mirror Ball Trophy will be presented on Tuesday.
