Dumb and Dumber 2 update!

Sure it's been 17 years worth of rumors, but Dumb and Dumber 2 is finally in the works. Rumors has it Bob and Pete Farrelly will be back directing while screenwriters Sean Anders and John Morris [Hot Tub Time Machine, Mr. Popper's Penguins] have already been hired.

On June 20 2013, Universal Pictures reportedly signed on to film the Dumb and Dumber 2 sequel after Warner Bros., who originally owned the rights to the film, dropped it last week. The Farrelly brothers took to their Twitter account to confirm the new funding.

That's only good news for fans of the 90s slapstick comedy. But part of what made the original Dumb and Dumber movie so great was the original cast, especially Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. Will the stars return for the sequel?

While Jeff Daniels has publicly expressed interest in filming a sequel to the beloved comedy, neither him nor Jim Carrey has been confirmed to reprise the roles of Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas.

Bob Farrely has mentioned he wants the Dumb and Dumber 2 plot to mimic reality and pick up with Lloyd and Harry a couple decades after the original Dumb and Dumber left off. 

If the past is any indication, the Dumb and Dumber 2 sequel will still have some kinks to work out. At least they're making progress!
