'Duck Dynasty's' Will Robertson Address GQ Article Controversy in a Recent Interview (VIDEO)

Before the Season 5 finale of A&E hit series "Duck Dynasty airs tonight, Willie and Korie Robertson had a recent interview where they spoke about last year's controversy that surrounded Willie's dad Phil in late December.

"My father, he made Christmas very interesting for us," said the Duck Commander CEO to CNN. "I remember doing that interview and this guy (GQ magazine columnist Drew Magary), I think he already had what he wanted to put and he was certainly asking specifically this and that and Phil just said what he thought -- what was on his heart."

In last year's issue of GQ magazine, Phil Robertson paraphrased the Bible by stating "Don't be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers-they won't inherit the kingdom of God. Don't deceive yourself. It's not right."

Willie Robertson went to CNN network to promote the new "God's Not Dead" movie where he made a cameo with his wife Korie. In the film, Willie and Korie Robertson played as themselves in a scene where they are harassed outside of church by a reporter who asked them how they feel about people who say they do not like the prayer scenes on the A&E show. Korie Robertson came to her father-in-law's defense in the recent CNN interview.

"Anybody who knows (Phil) ... any gay, straight, black, white, anybody who knows Phil knows that he is about love and his message is about God's love, God's grace and his forgiveness, ultimately," said Korie Robertson to CNN.

Willie Robertson agreed with his wife's sentiments 100% and he said that he "believe what the Bible says."

"You have to read the Bible and make up your own mind," said Willie Robertson to CNN. "You have to decide, and God will ultimately decide then. We don't profess to be God, and we certainly don't profess to be perfect. Because we have our own sins that we deal with."

He also talked about the possibility of his reality show getting cancelled during the controversy last year.

"We were able to use that platform to get out God's message, and if it ended right there, it ended right there," said Willie Robertson to CNN. "I felt like that was pretty much what God prepared us to do."

The critically acclaimed reality series Duck Dynasty airs the Season 5 Finale on the A&E network tonight at 10pm EST.
