5 Things you Didn’t Know about Duck Dynasty
The Robertson Family has been wildly (literally, wildly) entertaining for 3 seasons, and is set to return to air on August 14 with new cast member and clean shaven brother, Alan Robertson. Although viewers get to peer into the lives of these wild men each week on A&E, insights about America's most fun loving family are revealed by headboy Willie, and his wife, Korie in their book, The Duck Commander Family: How Faith, Family, and Ducks Built a Dynasty". FACT 1: The Robertson Clan are bunch of Preachers, in Disguise We've all seen the boys bow their heads during family dinner time, and talks of their strong faith are not foreign to the show. But did you know that at one point, Willie and Jase were attending seminary school in hopes of pursuing a future in preaching. Now the boys often speak at churches during their road shows to various hunting expos, and oldest brother, Alan, a pastor as well as business partner, is sure to reveal more about their faith in the new season. FACT 2: Parenting Styles Differ in the Robertson House The Robertson boys were raised with 100 percent independence. They were responsible for entertaining and taking care of themselves from a young age, and were raised to be problem-solvers and contribute to the family through working and helping. Korie, Willie's wife, was raised with protective and encouraging parents that were super involved in her activities. Now, Korie and Willie try to find a happy balance of letting the children exercise independence and laying down house rules. FACT 3: It REALLY is all in the family Korie's father, John Howard, has been investing in the Duck Commander company since its early days, and even helped establish their first website. Members of both Korie and Willie's family are on staff at Duck Commander, and all of Willie's brothers work for Duck Commander in some capacity. FACT 4: Marriage happens EARLY and STICKS Most of the Robertson men married very early, and have a rich history of marriages that last. Kay Roberson was 16 when she married Phil and spent their early years of marriage keeping him in line, and praying for him. She forgave Phil for his wild ways, and helped him get back on his feet time and time again. Willie and Korie married at age 19, and have been married for over 20 years. FACT 5: Korie and Willie have another Daughter At one point, Korie and Willie opened their home to a foreign exchange student for Taiwan, Rebecca. Rebecca was 16 when she entered the Robertson household and quickly became a big sister to the 4 younger kids. She has since moved to the United States and calls Korie and Willie her American parents.
