Drudge Report News: Russia Troops Take Control of Ukraine Town

The worsening situation and ongoing unrest in the Ukrainian territory has inevitably brought about memories of the Cold War. Russian efforts to support pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine have led to multiple diplomatic issues. Western countries have responded to Russia's activities in the region with utmost diplomatic hostility, slamming the largest country in the world with a series of immediate sanctions.

Russia seems to have remained unfazed even with the combined Western efforts to put a halt to what they call a "Russian invasion" in the sovereign country of Ukraine.

The United States has repeatedly criticized Russian President Vladimir Putin for his country's role in the Ukrainian unrest, which the Russian government had repeatedly denied.

In the latest Drudge Report, it has been stated that the satellite images gathered by NATO show Russian troops with advanced artillery moving into the Ukrainian district of Krasnodon, a Pro-Russian rebel-stronghold. US President Barack Obama once again criticized the move by Russia, calling the uprising in Ukraine as undoubtedly "not homegrown", and that the separatists in the former Soviet territory were being trained and financed by the Russian government.

Russian authorities have consistently denied their alleged role in the Ukrainian civil unrest, claiming that the Russian troops present in Eastern Ukraine were strictly there for humanitarian reasons.

American Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power recently clashed with Russian diplomat Vitaly Churkin in an emergency meeting at the UN Security Council last Thursday, calling Russia's denial of its role in the Ukrainian country an "outright lie".

Despite the consistent verbal hostility coming from the United States, Obama stated that military action from the US is "not going to be forthcoming".
