Drew Barrymore's half-sister, Jessica Barrymore, was found dead in her car last Tuesday from a suspected suicide.

The medical examiner's report states that the 47-year old was found dead in her car on July 29, 2014 around 6 am in National City, a town just north of San Diego, California.

Her neighbor, Maria Lopez, noticed that the vehicle had been parked for about six hours and discovered Barrymore when she was about to leave for work. Barrymore's car was blocking her driveway, so Lopez approached the vehicle to see what was going on. Lopez saw that Barrymore was surrounded by "dozens of white pills" with a can of energy drink between her legs as she lay slumped behind the wheel of the car.

Lopez told ABC 10 News that she attempted to wake her up, but upon noticing the pills, she decided to call the police instead.

Before her death, Barrymore posted her last message on her Facebook account, a quote from Mystera Magazine, which read, "Life doesn't always introduce you to the people you want to meet. Sometimes, life puts you in touch with the people you need to meet to Help you, Hurt you, to Guide you, to Leave you, to Love you, and to gradually Strengthen you into the Person You Were Meant to Become."

Barrymore was about to turn 48 on July 31. She is the daughter of actor John Drew Barrymore (married to Nina Wayne), who is also the father of actress Drew Barrymore.

In a statement on Entertainment Tonight, Drew Barrymore said, "Although I met her only briefly, I wish her and her loved ones as much peace as possible and I'm so incredibly sorry for their loss."
