Dragon Ball Xenoverse Release Date News: E3 2014 Sees PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 Announcements
Bandai Namco proudly announced during it's press conference at E3 this week, that the Dragon Ball franchise will be making its way onto next-gen consoles.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse stands as the official title for the newest installment in the series of Dragon Ball based fighting games. The game is to be released on the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360, there is no word yet on its availability for the Wii U or Wii consoles. Using the capabilities of the next-gen consoles, Namco Bandai hopes to create harmony between the game's unique graphics and play style.
One of the most anticipated features, is the player's ability to recreate famous battles from the anime. Not only will they be able to test their skills against Frieza as Goku on the planet Namek, but they will be able to change storyline history by defeating Goku as Frieza! Most importantly, the updated graphics and cell shaded type textures simulate an anime art style which further enhances the Dragon Ball experience.
The game will use the Havok engine for its physics, evident in the trailer as Goku fires his signature "Kamehameha wave" at the stone tiles below. Particle and lighting effects, which are relied upon heavily in a game like this, will be run on the YEBIS 2 engine.
Players will be relieved to know that fighters will still be able to take the battle from the land into the skies, much like the preceding games in the series.
While there is no official release date for this installment of the franchise, fans can take a glimpse at the gameplay in the trailer below:
