'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Spoilers, Rumors: Cast Reveals Their Hopes for Season 5, Lady Mary Chooses a Suitor
In a recent interview with PBS, several actors from the Masterpiece Theatre Series revealed their hopes and dreams for the potential outcomes of the storylines of their characters. Meanwhile, it looks like Lady Mary has made a choice about which of her potential suitors will be receiving her affections.
Thomas Barrow is a secretly gay under-butler whose story plays out in the "downstairs" portion of the show. The actor who plays Barrow, James Collier, said in the interview that he would like to see his character in a relationship that makes up for some of the previous "bromances" (according to Collier) that were cut short: "He's always been unlucky in love, so it'd be nice to see him happy for once. I think he deserves it."
Laura Carmichael wants to see her character, Edith, reunited with her daughter. However, her character is a Lady of high-standing and the baby was given to a tenant farmer. For her to visit the owner of the small farm on Downton Estate would raise questions that may make it impossible for her to justify her presence there.
We can see from the interview that Allen Leech wants to see the renewal of the political fervor of his character, Bronson, around his leftist allegiances. This would make a zesty climate for possible contention from conservative characters wherever Bronson is involved.
We won't be able to find out about these characters' lives until the next season, but Hollywood Life reports that there may be a prominent character that we do know something about. (Spoilers ahead) Michelle Dockery, or Lady Mary, was reported by Hollywood life to have been seen kissing Anthony "Tony" Gillingham, played by Tony Cullen. Has she made up her mind then, finally, about who she wants to be her man?
