‘Downton Abbey’ Season 5 Spoilers: Episode 6 Features Troubled Marriage and Thomas Barrow's Cure?

Viewers are getting ready for the sixth episode of 'Downton Abbey' Season 5, as it's set to bring about some serious drama and character changes, when it airs October 26.

First off, fans of the series will witness Thomas Barrow's revelation about undergoing a new treatment, that will apparently change who is he is.

Second, fans will take notice of Robert Crawley and his wife Cora, as their relationship becomes strained, stretched thinner than it has ever been before.

As for the fifth season of 'Downton Abbey' there's only three episodes remaining. So fans can expect to see some dramatic and conclusive changes to the storyline in the upcoming segments.

In Episode 6 viewers will see Robert giving Cora the silent treatment, after the latter was caught in the bedroom with Simon Bicker, who also harbors feelings for Cora.

Fans can recall when Robert and Bicker got involved in an altercation, which is considered as one of the most intense moments for the show.

Beyond that, Deputy-butler Thomas Barrow, played by Rob James-Collier, will also undergo more treatment to cure his ailment in episode six. He's been feeling ill and the Crawley household has noticed that he isn't getting any better.

Barrow will also finally reveal the truth about his homosexuality to Phyllis Baxter, Lady Grantham's new maid.

In an interview with ITV, series creator Julian Fellowes discussed Barrow's struggles with his sexuality in season five.

"He falls for the quackery that this can be cured, that he can get rid of this dumbbell he is dragging around with him," Fellowes said.

The results that Barrow seeks, which is to get rid of his sexual desire for men, cannot be achieved through the bogus treatment. According to Fellowes, "He embarks on quite a dark and serious journey rooted in his sexuality to try and change how he is."

Laura Carmichael's character Lady Edith Crawley will also receive horrible news in the new episode, which will spring her into action.

Season five of 'Downton Abbey' is currently airing in the United Kingdom, and will debut in the US on Jan. 4, 2015 via PBS.
