'Downton Abbey' Season 5 Release Date, New Trailer Video: Scandalous Relationships & Dramas

'Downtown Abbey' Executive Producer Gareth Neame recently spoke about the upcoming fifth season of the show. He revealed some details about what fans can expect when the show returns on September 21.

Neame said, "In the new season, we have the high-stakes drama, the laugh-out-loud comedy and the romance...we have all of the characters doing, but we have a few really nice twists and turns as well."

'Downton Abbey' will premiere in UK this September 21 on ITV and begin its fifth season in North America on Jan 4 (9/8c, PBS).

According to the Deadline, the latest season will start in the year 1924 with Ramsay MacDonald becoming Britain's first Labor Prime Minister. In Season 4, Lady Mary, who had to deal with her husband Matthew's downfall, will now have to deal with moving forward in her life. It will also pick up the unfinished stories from the previous season.

Also, in this upcoming season a couple of guest stars will join the team. They are Richard E. Grant and Anna Chancellor.

On a side note, the trailer for the upcoming Season 5 has also been released. The trailer incorporates many of the teaser scenes that appeared in the June video release, but they've since added a lot more content.
