‘Downton Abbey’ Season 5 Release Date, Cast Rumors: Sept Premiere Date, Lady Rose Will Not Return

Downton Abbey Season 5 is scheduled to have its release date on September 2014 with new cast members and houseguests of all different ages.

Mail Online has revealed that one character on the famed Julian Fellowes masterpiece will have an open-ended story.  What is certain is that Lady Rose, played by Rose MacClare, is filming her last season and is unlikely to return for Season 6.

She stars in Disney's Cinderella together with other Hollywood stars such as Richard Madden, Cate Blanchett, and Helena Bonham Carter.  The movie is expected to premiere on second quarter of 2015.  MacClare will make a special appearance on Downton Abbey's Christmas Episode.

New characters are also being added into the cast including kids aged eight to 11 that will take roles as choir members in Downton Abbey.  Hastings Stage Studios recently signed up Nyah Braisby, Sophie Apthorp, Louis Selling, Morgan Smith, Brandon Pohlhammer, and Harry Seymour.

"The students play children in the local village school, and two were also choir boys filming with Dame Maggie Smith, reporting that they were thrilled to work with Professor McGonagall from Harry Potter!" Hastings Stage Studio Director Vanessa Pohlhammer said.

The production has been very strict on its cast tweeting or sharing filming photos on social media.

Other additional characters include Richard E Grant, Rade Serbedzija, and Anna Chancellor.
