Does Today's News Hint at End Times Prophecies? Global Changes, Wars, and Persecution Signal the Return of Jesus According to Scripture
Everyday, more and more current world news is looking a lot like Bible prophecy, which bring to question, are we in the end times? In this article we will take a look at some of the events taking place throughout the world today that aligns with Bible prophecy.
From as early as the first century one can find record of people inquiring about the end. The early followers of Jesus Christ wondered and even questioned Him about it. Jesus spoke of signs that would take place around the time of the end in Matthew 24 and Luke 21.
Throughout the centuries mankind has witnessed several signs that fulfill prophesy. Many even try and pick the date of the end, but the Bible clearly states in Matthew 24:36, "But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only."
This article is not to prove or disprove that we are living in the end times, but only to examine current events and explore whether or not it can be applied to Matthew 24 and other prophetic verses in scripture.
In Matthew 24:3 Jesus' disciples asked Him, "...Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?"
He responded with examples of when the "the beginning" of the end would come. He commences in Matthew 24:4-5, "See that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and they will lead many astray."
False Messiahs are not a rare occurrence. Now in the 21st century people claiming to be the second coming of "Jesus" are gaining thousands of followers like never before.

Jesus goes on to say in Matthew 24:6, "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars."
There are countless wars currently taking place throughout the world, mostly in the Middle East. For a full list from Wars In The World of conflicts happening since January of this year click here.

Matt. 24:7 reads, "There shall be famines..." According to a new World Bank study India, China, Nigeria, Bangladesh, and the Democratic Republic of Congo contain two-thirds of the world's poorest people making less than $1.15 a day.
In South Sudan alone the UN estimates that a third of the country of 11 million are facing starvation unless farmers can plant a critical round of crops before the annual rains hit in May.
Jesus also speaks of "earthquakes in various places" in Matt. 24:7. In the last 30 days earthquakes have hit Panama, Alaska, Mexico, California, Japan, and many other places. For a full list of earthquakes that have hit, click here.

In Matt. 24:9 Jesus speaks of His followers being persecuted and hated for His names sake. "They will deliver you up to tribulation and put you to death, and you will be hated by all nations for my name's sake," the scripture states.
In North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Nigeria, Iraq, and other places, Christians are being persecuted and killed for professing Jesus Christ as Lord. In recent months reports are being heard of Muslim extremists killing off Christians for refusing to convert to Islam. Matthew 24 goes on to say that the love of many shall grow cold and many shall hate each other. The rise of violence throughout the world is constantly publicized on new outlets and now even YouTube as people from all generations are rising up against each other.
Matt. 24:13 gives clear instruction on how God's people should handle all the adversity. "But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved," the Bible states.
The last passage we will address is verse 14, in which Jesus said, "This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come."
During the iSummit at Biola University a couple of years ago, founder and CEO of Global Media Outreach, Walt Wilson claimed, "We are the first generation in all of human history to hold within our hands the technology to reach every man, woman and child on the earth by 2020...Our generation has within its grasp everything that is required to fulfill the Great Commission."
