Doctor Who Season 8 Spoilers: Peter Jackson to Direct One Episode? Show Exec Reveals Episode Teasers
"Doctor Who' executive producer Steven Moffat has given Whovians all over the world a taste of what to expect from Season 8, which airs next month on BBC.
Here's a breakdown of the 12 episodes courtesy of Doctor Who Magazine which features Peter Capaldi as the Time Lord in its recent cover:
Episode 1: Deep Breath- the only episode named by Steven Moffat. It concentrates on Clara trying to cope, mixed in with a truly terrifying monster. According to Moffat, the first episode is "a really huge introductory show. Episode 2: by Phil Ford. One where the Daleks get really nasty. "It's actually quite a gritty Dalek adventure."
Episode 3: by Mark Gatiss. A very funny one, says Moffat, where the Doctor meets Robin Hood. Episode 4: by Steven Moffat. The second in the series penned by Moffat, the exec says that it is "a complete departure for me in terms of writing "Doctor Who'". The story centers on a date and the Doctor having what appears to be a "minor nervous breakdown."
Episode 5: by Steve Thomson. The episode is described as "a heist movie." Episode 6: by Gareth Roberts. "Not unlike the Lodger episode," says Moffat. It blends comedy with some serious moments.
Episode 7: by Peter Harness. "Proper drama," Moffat adds. It references a past episode. Episode 8: by Jamie Mathison. A new mister features, with Foxes singing. "It looks stunning in a very glamorous way," says Moffat.
Episode 9: by Jamie Mathison. Prepare to be frightened by this episode. Moffat hints that it's an episode "with one of our best sight gags in it." Episode 10: by Frank Cottrell Boyce. "A fairytale" but expect something quite different from the norm
Episode 11 and 12: by Steven Moffat. "It's about Clara and the Doctor and how the way they interact might not be healthy for everyone around them."
Moreover, Moffat has hinted of the possibility of "Lord of the Rings' director Peter Jackson coming onboard to direct one episode of Season 8, but it's a matter of when he's available. "He's still incredibly busy on 'The Hobbit'. I've spoken to him face to face and he would like to do one," confirms Moffat.
