'Doctor Who' Season 8 Spoilers: Leaked Scripts - Network Carries Out Damage Control, Sends Out Apology

BBC is doing a lot of damage control after scripts of the first five episodes of Doctor Who Season 8 have leaked online. The scripts popped up online seven weeks before the show's scheduled return and included the season premiere episode entitled "Deep Breath,"

Although BBC has not confirmed it officially, it is being reported that the leak has been traced to the network's head office in Miami where the episodes were being translated and subtitled for Latin American audiences.

Show executive Steven Moffat was outraged upon knowing of the leak. Moffat is known to go to extremes to guard the show's secrets. For the 50th anniversary special of the show, he famously arranged for a simultaneous debut all around the world, which meant that some countries were able to watch the show even after the primetime spots.

This was a move to ensure that all Whovians, as "Doctor Who' fans refer to themselves, get to enjoy the show without any spoilers or leaks before the event.

In an official statement, BBC said, "BBC Worldwide is currently investigating a security issue around "Doctor Who' Series 8 where unfinished material has inadvertently been made public. We deeply regret this and apologize to all the show's fans, the BBC and the cast and crew who have worked tirelessly making the series. We would like to make a plea to anyone who might have any of this material and spoilers associated with it not to share it with a wider audience so that everyone can enjoy the show as it should be seen on 23rd August. We know only too well that "Doctor Who' fans are the best in the world and we thank them for their help with this and their continued loyalty."
