‘Doctor Who’ Season 8 Release Date Spoilers: Peter Capaldi New Director, Peter Jackson To Direct 1 Episode [VIDEO]

Fans have become excited as 'Doctor Who' Season 8 gears up to introduce a new character to the popular British TV series. Also, head writer Steven Moffat attempts to deliver a storyline that will surely mix things up in the upcoming installment of the show.

As the series gets ready for its August 23 premiere of Season 8, fans are eager to learn what's in store on their favorite sci-fi show, broadcast on BBC One. Now that the 12th  doctor is set to appear on 'Doctor Who', many speculate that Moffat is ready to toss in some major changes for the show.

It has been confirmed that the lead role previously played by Matt Smith, will now fall upon Scottish actor Peter Capaldi. Viewers of the series can expect a lot of different things, concerning the character, as Capaldi himself has revealed that he will be bringing many changes to the table during 'Doctor Who' Season 8. Currently, no substantial spoilers have been released about the upcoming installment, but in a recent interview with Empire, Capaldi mentioned that he will be bringing out the complexities of his character.

Everything concerning the show's production and release date appears to be set, as several promotional photos have reportedly been released. Beyond that, sources say Season 8 will primarily be directed by Ben Wheatley, but rumors claim that Peter Jackson might direct and episode or two. According to Moffat, Jackson is too busy filming 'The Hobbit' film to dedicate any time toward 'Doctor Who', but if Jackson catches some free time he just might step in to lead an episode.
