‘Dr Who’ Season 8 Release Date, Cast Rumors: Tom Riley to Act in Future Episodes

British comedy Twenty Twelve star Tom Riley has tweeted in response to a report that he will be featuring in two "Doctor Who" episodes written by Mark Gatiss.

Meanwhile, is there any news on what kind of character Riley will play? And will these episodes be present in the upcoming season or a subsequent one?

"Well that's out then. I've been a massive fan since I was even smaller than Jenna. Very Excited." Riley tweeted a couple of days ago.

Riley has starred in previous television shows, playing in such respected television programs as "Inspector Lewis," "Monroe" and the film "St Trinians 2: The Legend of Friton's Gold," in which he played opposite former Doctor David Tennant.

Gatiss has given confirmation that he has penned the two shows, but makes no affirmation as to when they will be aired, saying that just because they were written already, there's no assurance that they will both be airing in the upcoming season.

Both shows however, will feature the new, eighth season protagonist, and twelfth incarnation of legendary Doctor, Peter Capaldi.

Capaldi was chosen to play the infamous "Doctor Who" having had a significant career in television, both in comedy and drama, and even in the "Doctor Who" spin-off "Torchwood."

Other writers for the eighth season include Steven Moffat and Stephen Thompson, who are, notably, along with Mark Gatiss, writers for the well-renowned crime drama "Sherlock," which has just finished its third season on BBC.
