Divergent Movie Sequel Release Date, Cast Rumors: Ashley Judd to Play Natalie
Just days after the first of its series was released in March of this year, Summit Entertainment officially ordered Divergent's second installment, Insurgent. The movie has subsequently started filming in May.
The highly successful, blockbuster Divergent movie raked in over $54 million on its opening weekend, and to date, the film has grossed a total of nearly $270 million.
Divergent is a movie based on a novel written by Veronica Roth which was published by Harper-Collins in 2011.
In a recent interview with Movie Pilot, the writer divulged that a scene was removed from the sequel because it was too grisly for theater viewing. Roth also shared that her favorite parts of the upcoming movie are the simulations, adding that it is the most entertaining part when watching the book come into life.
In a PopSugar interview, she revealed that she might also be doing a cameo on the much awaited film, much like the one she did in the original film, Divergent. The author also disclosed in that interview that the Insurgent set had an enormous 'Amity' tree, the tree that symbolizes the 'Amity' faction in the movie.
Roth released her latest novel, 'Four: A Divergent Collection' on July 8th.
Meanwhile, Fashion & Style disclosed in an article that actress Shailene Woodley and her co-actor, Theo James will be performing risky stunts in the upcoming Insurgent movie. According to the online magazine, the sets for the movie includes a number of building rooftops connected by zip lines.
The novel from which the impending movie is based on is set in a post-apocalyptic impression of Chicago.
Insurgent is still currently in production and is set to premiere in March of 2015, starring Shailene Woodley as Tris, Theo James as Four, and two-time Golden Globe nominee Ashley Judd as Natalie, and 'Nikita' star Maggie Q as Tori.
