Diablo 3 Release Date Rumors: PS4 Version Confirmed, Xbox One Version 'Being Worked On'

Diablo 3 is being developed for both the PS4 and Xbox One, new reports coming out of game developer Blizzard indicate.

According to IGN, only the PS4 version of the game has a set release date and an official confirmation. However, the game was hinted at for the Xbox One, although not confirmed.

"I can't confirm it at this point, as I don't have a release date, at all for that," said Alex Mayberry, the game's lead producer, to IGN. "The way we develop, it's as if there will be an Xbox One version, but until it's announced there's nothing official."

He continued on and said Diablo 3 may arrive sooner than anticipated for the PS4.

"It's being worked on," he said. "I don't have any release dates to announce, but it's not far behind. They kind of have to wait for the PC side to wrap before they can completely finish, but they've been in parallel development with us the whole time. As we developed on the PS, they pulled it into the console version and then they make it work. It won't be long, but I can't give an exact date as we still need to go through certifications."

He continued, "Our goal when developing on the console side is to not just port the game over. We want it to feel crafted for that console. Certainly the user interface will be completely retooled for the console side of things, but their also looking at a number of features that'd be different from the PC side. I can't go into details though."

Diablo III first came onto the scene in the fall of 2013. Since then there has been a clamor for an expanded version of the game, not to mention, as the next gen consoles of Playstation and Xbox came out, a high demand for the title to be rereleased on the more advanced game consoles. Now it seems like both dreams are coming true, as the expansion pack for the PS3 and Xbox 360, as well as P.C., is set to be released to gamers in just a few days.
