The Detroit Tigers will go head-to-head against the Baltimore Orioles today at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland. Today's game will start at 5:37 pm ET and can be watched online through live stream via the link provided below (free for subscribers).
Tigers All-Star ace Max Scherzer (18-5, 3.15 ERA) is looking to propel "The Motor City" squad (90-72) to a victory in Game 1 of the 2014 American League Division Series Round against Baltimore's explosive offense.
Scherzer's rookie manager Brad Ausmus gave his thoughts on the potential pitching duel between both AL teams in their upcoming game.
"He's been our best pitcher," said Ausmus to reporters in reference to Scherzer dominance throughout his MLB career, "Generally speaking, pitching can make the difference, but you just don't know how it plays out. Usually you feel like the pitching makes the difference, but then you have a game that's 12-10. We feel good about, obviously, our starting staff going in, but the bottom line is you don't know how the games are going to go."
Meanwhile, the Orioles (96-66) will counter the Tigers dominant offense with their durable starting pitcher Chris Tillman (13-6, 3.34 ERA) when he takes the pitching mound this afternoon.
"It's what you work for, it's what you prepare for in the offseason and through the course of a season. ... You want to play in October," said Orioles right fielder Nick Markakis, according to a Baltimore Sun report.
Orioles' manager Buck Showalter also talked about how the longtime teammates (and friends) Nick Markakis and Adam Jones ignited the AL East squad, which won their division for the first time since 1997.
"I was thinking about that night and how unbelievably happy they were. When you get your noses bloodied together and more importantly you get it rubbed in it together, there's a real" partnership, said Showalter in reference to Markakis and Jones, "They were like two kids winning the Little League state championship. I got so much joy out of seeing how excited they were."
The game will start at at 5:37 pm ET and can be watched on TV on the TBS network or online through live stream by clicking here.
